Rural Roots #SundaySalon
Happy Sunday! Sunday Salon is hosted by Deb at ReaderBuzz. Check out her post and the links to see what other bloggers have been up to in the last week.
How’s the weather?
We’re having warm sunny days. Next week looks a bit more unsettled.
What are you reading?
I finished listening to John Green’s Everything is Tuberculosis. I highly recommend it! I learned so much about history, disease, and activism (the current focus on my A to Z Challenge). The book inspired my N is for Nerdfighteria post.
I’m really enjoying The London House by Katherine Reay. An American in London is one of my favorite plots, a way to vicariously live a fantasy life.
What are you watching or listening to?
I’m continuing to watch Designated Survivor on Netflix and Star Trek: Picard on Paramount+.
I recently finished and wrote about the Lady Killers podcast for my British Isles Friday post. The show is hosted by Lucy Worsley and presented by the BBC.
What are you doing?
Given my recent experience working with people from the rural county where I grew up, I decided to attend the Rural Democratic Leaders Conference on Saturday. An on-line conference is a great way to pull together rural activists from across the country.
I continued the A to Z Challenge with more posts on my theme of Activism:
- R is for Rural Activism
- S is for Self-Care
- T is for Tyranny
- U is for Urgency
- V is for Volunteer
- W is for Whiteness
How are you this fine Sunday?
I’ve been busy volunteering, but I need to take a look at your A-Z posts on activism; I’m behind!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts about John Green’s Everything is Tuberculosis. I’m interested to see why others are enjoying this book so much.
Quite a few bloggers have recommended the TB book. I’m thinking of reading it soon.
So glad to see people enjoying the TB book, really! I’m a broken record about it/about TB in general, haha.
I can’t quite get my head around the same John Green being the author of the TB book but also books like Looking for Alaska. I think I just need to take a look at it and it won’t perplex me so much!
Have a great week!
I will have to try that podcast out. I love a good true crime podcast.
Thank you for getting out there and being an activist! Your reading challenge sounds really interesting.
Good news about the John Green TB book. And now the measles is running rampant … which is not helped by having a non-vaxer at HHS. I applaud all your activism.
