E is for Email #AtoZChallenge
My 2025 A to Z Challenge theme is activism. I’ve been a Black Lives Matter activist for over a decade. I’m not an expert. I do have experience to share and I’m hoping to learn from your experiences, too. We’re all in this together.
Today, I rise to praise the lowly email.
Emails are my most-used tool for activism.
I send emails to individuals for connection or requests or in invitation.
I send emails to small groups to brainstorm and organize meetings, actions, and events.
I send emails to large groups to garner support and attendance to meetings, actions, and events.
In recent days, I used email to organize a lobby day in our state capital. I used email to set up a meeting to figure out a response to the Department of Education’s latest attack on the best methods used by public schools. I responded to a request for information about school board candidates via email. And, more.
Can we change the world with the lowly email? In our times, I can’t imagine that we could change the world without email.
That says a lot about our world, doesn’t it.
I must say that when people get in touch and want to talk on the phone I tell them to email me as I have more control over what I’m saying in print than I do on the phone. I don’t tell them the last part, that’s why I do it though.
Stay safe at today’s demonstrations.
I guess it might have been letters before email. But now life would not be possible without email.
Email is a good one to use, especially for the introverted.
It is so sad to see education being under attack everywhere. I see the same script being played out over and over.
Email is also good because it leaves a trail. Sometimes it is important to show what was written and agreed.
The Multicolored Diary
Email is probably the tool I use the most to seek change.
