Spring Training #SundaySalon
Happy Sunday! Sunday Salon is hosted by Deb at ReaderBuzz. Check out her post and the links to see what other bloggers have been up to in the last week.
How’s the weather?
I’m writing this on Friday as I’m about to head out for a walk. It’s sunny and 74 degrees. A great way to end a week. But it all comes crashing down tonight. The temperature will drop over 40 degrees before I get up in the morning.
I’m calling this week of walks my Spring Training — just a teaser for the real spring walks.
What are you reading?
I am having so much fun reading Shakespeare: The Man Who Pays the Rent by Judi Dench with Brendan O’Hea. I wasn’t sure what I expected, but it wasn’t humorous interviews that somehow manage to be structured in a way that illuminates the plots of the plays for those of us who are only casual Shakespeare fans.
I reviewed Master Slave Husband Wife by Ilyon Woo this week after our terrific book club discussion. Check out what we learned about nuance, complexity, and clever plans to resist oppression.
What are you watching?
I enjoyed Lucy Worsley’s latest history series about Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his ambivalent relationship with his creation, Sherlock Holmes. Holmes vs Doyle is currently streaming on PBS. I reviewed it for British Isles Friday.
What are you doing?
This week, I helped select the times and places for two meetings next week. Both are looking at education. I’m not sure what, if anything, we can do to help educators do their jobs in the best interests of children in the current environment. I just know that the best place to hatch clever plans is in community with others.
How are you this fine Sunday?
That is quite the quick change in temperature! I hope the warm weather stays soon. Have a great weekend.
I went to the outlet mall in Chesterfield on Thursday and walked around for three hours. I’m calling that my Spring warm up walk. LOL. I like how you framed decision making in community. Very nice. I’m showing that we’re getting a couple of days of rain next week. Try to enjoy the outdoors on the days that you can. Have a wonderful week!
You always get such great books and I take note of your suggestions. Wow, a 40 degree drop in temps is extreme, glad you got some good walking in.
I am hopelessly behind this week in everything – blogging, visiting, everything.
I am glad your all’s weather is so nice! I am looking forward to it getting warmer so I can start walking outside again! Have a great week.
The Judy Dench wasn’t what I expected either–it was actually better! I love Shakespeare and so it was such a treat to hear her reminiscences about her life playing Shakespeare’s women.
I like your Spring Training–I may have to adopt that myself!
Those abrupt temperature changes are always a challenge. It’s nice to have a break from the cold though. Thanks for working to help the children and educators in your community!
