Snow Day #SundaySalon
Happy Sunday! Sunday Salon is hosted by Deb at ReaderBuzz. Check out her post and the links to see what other bloggers have been up to in the last week.
How’s the weather?
We’re getting our first snow as I write this on Saturday. So far, it’s the light fluffy kind that does more to obscure visibility than it does to inspire Christmas card scenes. It’s sticking nicely to the grass and tree branches, so that’s pretty.
What are you reading?
I don’t usually read short stories but A Lot Like Christmas by Connie Willis makes a nice exception to the rule during the holiday season.
I made a Black Friday post with a recommendation of a book for any Anglophiles on your list: London: A Gude for Curious Wanderers by Jack Chester.
What are you watching?
I tried a few Christmas movies, but gave up and went for the psychological thriller, Fool Me Once, based on the Harlan Coben novel. I’ll try Christmas movies again later in the season. Or, maybe today’s snow will put me in the right mood.
What are you doing?
Signing up for the 2025 Nonfiction Reading Challenge hosted by Book’d Out.
What are you up to this fine Sunday?
The change in weather everywhere in the country this weekend is amazing. So many places went from. unseasonably warm to hideously cold overnight after Thanksgiving. You evidently prefer to keep your celebration private but I hope you had a lovely TG dinner and lots of leftovers if that’s what is good for you.
best, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
One Holiday at a time for me! I’m in recovery mode from Thanksgiving. The weather here has cooled some, but sunny and warm today. That’s Hawaii for you.
We finally (!) got out of summer mode here. We literally been wore shorts through October and November this year, and that’s too long. I envy you the snow, in theory anyway; I would never be able to actually leave my house if there was snow on the road!
I need to get our Christmas things out today. We were considering just doing a tiny tree this year, but I think we will do a big tree for at least one more year.
It has been so frigidly cold here the past few days! Snow and ice and plummeting temps, when just the day before Thanksgiving we were running around shopping without a coat even on. I hope you had a good week!
We had the same snow yesterday. I can still look out and see it. I enjoy novella’s immensely. They make me feel like I accomplished something and get an enjoyable read to boot. Psychological thrillers are good but I don’t typically watch them that often.
Ahh you got snow! I didn’t realize you were in the St. Louis area — for whatever reason I thought you were more rural. I’m sure it’s nice. Years ago I went to a Lewis & Clark exhibit in St. Louis. It was great. I hope you can enjoy seeing the snow outside on the trees.
Delighted you’ll be joining the Nonfiction Reader Challenge again next year!
Today is officially the first day of Summer, so no snow here
Wishing you a great reading week
We have had snow several times recently, but it’s not sticking around yet. It is flurrying now, but I don’t think it is supposed to be much of anything. I have read a few Christmas books (and just today finished ones for Thanksgiving). I am hoping to get a decent amount of Christmas books in during December. Have a great weekend!
Snow is so pretty to look at, especially in December.
At my house it is a delightful 76F and I’ve got my windows open.
Christmas movies are on tap here but we always wait until after the first week of December. Tonight I think we are watching Ford vs Ferrari which is far from a Christmas movie.
Glad the snow for you is light and I bet it’s pretty.
