Solito and Soccer #SundaySalon
Happy Sunday! Sunday Salon is hosted by Deb at ReaderBuzz. Check out her post and the links to see what other bloggers have been up to in the last week.
How’s the weather?
We’re having a glorious fall! I’ve been enjoying cooler days for lots of walking.
What are you reading?
Solito by Javier Zamora. This is the story of a journey across the US southern border. I found it difficult to get through this book as a memoir. Since I needed to finish it in time for our book club meeting, I pretended it was an adventure novel. In fact, since it’s from the point-of-view of a nine-year-old boy, I read it like a middle grade adventure novel. Still. My great-nephew turns nine on Monday. When I imagine that he is making this trip, the story becomes heart-wrenching. To make the world a better place, we need to start by remembering the humanity of each of us.
I’m currently listening to A Most Agreeable Murder by Julia Seales, fun parody of historical mysteries.
My current e-book is Her Lost Words by Stephanie Marie Thornton, a novel about Mary Wollstonecraft and her daughter Mary Shelley.
What are you watching?
I enjoyed the “First Season” (Disney-branding) of Doctor Who.
What are you doing?
I went to my first live soccer game! Six-year-olds who may someday be stars.
How are you this fine Sunday?
