Book: Remember Love, Remember Me, Always Remember, by Mary Balogh
Genre: Series of Regency historical romance novels
Publisher: Flatiron Books
Publication date: 2022, 2023, 2024
Source: e-books borrowed from the library
Summary: These three books tell stories about the family of the Earl of Stratton. In the first book, we learn something about the patriarch of the family that changes the lives of his whole family. The rest of the first book and the next two books, tell stories of individuals in that family and how they find love after an event that would make anyone a bit cynical.
Devlin, the eldest legitimate son of the Earl of Stratton goes off to war after ripping open a family secret that many people think should have been left hidden. He abandons a spark of love that had just struck. When he returns home, years later, will that love be rekindled or has war and family strife killed his ability to love completely?
The next book is about Philippa, the oldest daughter of the family. The third book is about Ben, the illegitimate son of the Earl of Stratton who was treated, mostly, like a member of the family after his mother died.
Thoughts: I’ve been reading books that are more closely related to my writing or nonfiction books for my book club. The Ravenswood books were just for fun, and they hit the spot. I found Philippa’s story particularly charming.
The settings vary in these three books. The first and third books take place mostly in or near Ravenswood, the residence of the Earl of Stratton and his family. We get to see how the great country house fits into the life of the village and the surrounding rural area. The second book is about Philippa’s come-out season and is largely set in London during the Season with all of its amusements.
According to Goodreads, a fourth book in this series is scheduled to be published in 2025. I’m looking forward to it! There are enough memorable characters of marriageable age that this series could continue for several more books.
Appeal: The Ravenswood books are terrific additions to the genre of Regency historical romance novels.
