  1. Books about women in wwII include “Gone to Soldiers” by Marge Piercy — very good, I read it a long time ago. “Code Girls: The Untold Story of the American Women Code Breakers of World War II” by Liza Mundy got good reviews but I haven’t read it. Agatha Christie’s classic couple star in “N or M?: A Tommy and Tuppence Mystery.”

I feel as if I have read others, but can’t think of them offhand.

Good reading! … mae at maefood.blogspot.com

  2. I’m delighted that you have completed your first draft, Joy. What a wonderful accomplishment. I like the decision you made to read stories of working women in World War II during the month you are taking off from writing. I wish I had titles to add to your list. I wonder if there are any memoirs written by working women in that time.

Usually it is the hours and hours of rain which come with a hurricane that hurt us here near Houston, but this time it was the winds. I’m sorry Beryl hit you so hard there, too. We generally do a good job here along the coast of whittling down a storm before it moves on.

  3. That must be such a good feeling to complete your book. On to editing! I admire your dedication to get it finished and now let’s hope you have a publication date coming up 🙂

  4. I remember really loving Chariots of Fire. It was so popular when we went to see it in the theater we had to sit in the front row. Imagine the athletes running down the beach. We were right there with them.

  5. Congratulations on finishing your novel!
On WW2 books about women’s work, Staircase Wit blog has just reviewed The Secret Stealers by Jane Healy, which sounds relevant. One of the best novels I’ve read on women’s work in WW2 is One Night in London, by Lucilla Andrews, about a nurse during the second blitz. It’s based on her own experiences, but it’s probably not relevant to your novel.
