THE END #SundaySalon
Happy Sunday! Sunday Salon is hosted by Deb at ReaderBuzz. Check out her post and the links to see what other bloggers have been up to in the last week.
How’s the weather?
The remnants of Hurricane Beryl came through the St. Louis area on Tuesday giving us eleven straight hours of rain. It never rained very hard, but it was relentless.
I have a friend in Houston, so I can’t complain. She lost power on Monday and it’s still not back on. Living without air conditioning in Houston heat and humidity is no joke.
What are you reading?
I just started Being Heumann: An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Activist by Judith Heumann. She is internationally recognized but, if you’re like me and don’t pay that much attention, her name may be unfamiliar. I feel honored to get to learn about her now with the July selection of my book club. I got a late start because there weren’t as many copies in our local library systems as some of our books. I ended up ordering a copy.
Since I’m taking a month off of writing, I want to read novels about working women in World War II — the situation of my novel. I started with The Codebreaker’s Secret by Sara Ackerman and Dear Mrs. Bird by A.J. Pearce. What do you recommend that I read with that theme?
What are you watching?
I re-watched Chariots of Fire because it’s about the 1924 British track team in the 1924 Paris Olympics. One hundred years later, the Olympics are again in Paris, so that felt like the perfect movie for July.
What are you doing?
As I predicted last week, I wrote THE END on Monday for the first draft of my novel. I wrote for 90 consecutive days for a total of 93,551 words. Next up, I’ll take a month away from it. Then, it will be time to start the editing process.
How are you this fine Sunday?
