Make it So #SundaySalon
Happy Sunday! Sunday Salon is hosted by Deb at ReaderBuzz. Check out her post and the links to see what other bloggers have been up to in the last week.
How’s the weather?
We’ve cooled off some which is a big relief. Although, I was out earlier today and when it’s sunny, the humidity makes it very uncomfortable. Clouds and breeze pop up periodically to make things feel much better.
What are you reading?
Patrick Stewart read his own autobiography, Making It So. The book is over 18 hours long and I’m 93% through it. Even so, I don’t want it to end. I have loved listening to Jean Luc Picard’s voice tell the story of Patrick Stewart’s life, beginning with his poverty-ridden boyhood. I just heard the part where he gets knighted. What a life!
I’m reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid as an e-book. This is a very different story about actors and show business, but there are some interesting parallels.
What are you watching?
I wrote about Magpie Murders on PBS. I enjoyed the production and was fully fascinated by the interviews with Anthony Horowitz who wrote both the book and the screenplay — using completely different structures.
What are you doing?
I’m on Day 81 of my challenge to write for 90 consecutive days. My manuscript is near 88,000 words and I’m only a handful of scenes from The End. I’m in good shape to meet two goals — pass 90,000 words and write the final scene.
How are you this fine Sunday?
I enjoyed yur Magpie Murders post and I would like to read the book by Patrick Stewart.Good for you having great progress on your writing!
Tina’s blog post today was about patience in the garden, and yours is about patience with writing a book! I guess it’s kind of the theme of the Sunday Salon today. Deb, who is hosting, is also patiently waiting — for Paris in July.

Congrats on almost finishing your book! I’ve still to read the second half of Magpie Murders.
Congrats on all your writing! You’re getting a lot done on the book, wonderful. All is well here. I have read TJ Reid before but I think I’ve decided she’s not for me … though she’s very popular. Enjoy your weekend.
Wow. What an accomplishment to write every day for 90 days. Way to go. The autobiography you are reading sound really good. I think I may add it to my TBR.
I can imagine that listening to Patrick Stewart read anything would be great. I have a recording of his one man production of A Christmas Carol that is fantastic. But getting to listen to him read his autobiography has to be extra special.
His stories around the production of A Christmas Carol are moving.
I, like you, could listen to the voice of Patrick Stewart all day. Because the members of our family were all such fans of Star Trek: Next Generation, several of us have talked about reading Stewart’s story. I’m glad to see how much you enjoyed it.
And, wow, you have done so well with your writing! You inspire me. I’ve gone back and forth this year between my adventure novel and my memoir. I need to work a lot more on the structure of my novel before I can really do any serious writing.
Congrats on your writing!! That is fantastic!
Way to go on the writing! Working toward your goals feels so good, doesn’t it?? Congrats on your progess so far
I really like Seven Husbands even if it wasn’t what I was expecting. Happy reading!
I wanted to read Patrick Stewarts memoir for my book club’s memoir of choice month, but there are too many holds for me to get it from the library in time. I’ll have to listen to it another time. I’m glad you’ve been enjoying it.
My Sunday Post
Patrick Stewart memoir sounds good. I don’t know a dang thing about him!
We actually had a bit of rain this weekend which was good, but we were at the beach so had to have lunch inside. It wasn’t very hard and did clear up after a while. It was still warm so we didn’t have to wrap up.
Patrick Stewart seems like he would be an interesting person so hear more about. I also want to read Seven Husbands.
I enjoyed watching Magpie Murders.
Have a great week!
