Spring TBR #TopTenTuesday
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic at That Artsy Reader Girl is “Books on my Spring 2024 TBR.”
Currently Reading
Let’s start with the three books that I’m reading.
Jane Crow: The Life of Pauli Murray by Rosalind Rosenberg. This is the March selection for the Community of Hope and Understanding Book Group.
Tom Lake by Ann Patchett, read by Meryl Streep. This is my second Ann Patchett book after listening to Tom Hanks read Dutch House in February.
Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. This has been on my TBR for years. It appeared on my top ten list in January of books that I meant to read in 2023 but didn’t get to.
Book Club Books
I have two more books to read this spring for the Community of Hope and Understanding Book Group.
Being White Today: A Roadmap for a Positive Antiracist Life by Shelly Tochluk and Christine Saxman. This is our April selection. Many of us have read Witnessing Whiteness by Shelly Tochluk and look forward to this book that promises to help us through 2024. From the publisher’s blurb: “Using fictionalized scenarios and case studies, it offers a way to resist extremist messaging and recruitment. A helpful resource for White people who care about US society, in particular, White parents, educators, activists, and racial/social justice practitioners, this book also helps people understand antiracist messaging and how to use it strategically to create a larger community of White antiracists.”
“All the Real Indians Died Off”: And 20 other Myths about Native Americans by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz and Dina Gilio Whitaker. We read An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz a couple of years ago, so we wanted to read another of her works.
For the Laughs
Since I enjoyed Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld and Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, I’m actively seeking books that have a humorous narrative voice. Here are five that I’m considering.
- Beach Read by Emily Henry
- Less by Andrew Sean Greer
- Heartburn by Nora Ephron
- Loveless by Alice Oseman
- Glitterland by Alexis Hall
What books do you think I might enjoy?
