#AtoZChallenge meet #BriFri
Welcome to British Isles Friday! British Isles Friday is a weekly event for sharing all things British and Irish — reviews, photos, opinions, trip reports, guides, links, resources, personal stories, interviews, and research posts. Join us each Friday to link your British and Irish themed content and to see what others have to share. The link list is at the bottom of this post. Pour a cup of tea or lift a pint and join our link party!
Last week, I celebrated Elton John’s 75th birthday by sharing my memories from adolescence and my early twenties. Tina shared the first two books in the DI Luc Callanach series by Helen Fields.
Today begins the A to Z Challenge — a challenge to post 26 posts in April, every day except for the four Sundays. My A to Z theme is codebreaking in World War II, which goes along with the topic of the novel that I’m writing.
My novel’s setting is Washington DC, so I’m focused on the American codebreaking effort. But the British effort at Bletchley Park is more widely known. Several of my posts will be of interest to the readers and participants of British Isles Friday.
Look for posts about Bletchley Park, Enigma, and Dilly Knox (you’ll recognize that name if you read Kate Quinn’s The Rose Code). I’ll share a quote from The Rose Code in the “U is for U-Boats” post because there’s a delightful scene fitting that topic.
I have a couple of non-codebreaking book reviews pre-scheduled for British Isles Friday in April. I may run dry by the end of the month, but I’ll be sure to post a place for us to gather for our link party, even if I don’t have new content to share.
