Our sewer lift pump died this week. It turns out that a house without drains doesn’t really function as a house. We’re slowly getting the problem taken care of, but I don’t have enough time at my computer to write a post. I had a film review that I wanted to write this week. Oh well, it will work well next week, too.
In keeping with the topic, I’ll refer you to my review of London Under by Peter Ackroyd, all about the things under London including sewers, water, and the Tube. Or, if you prefer fiction, Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman where fantastic creatures inhabit the sewer system under London.
I certainly hope you get things handled soon, what an aggravating mess !
I’m in this week with #25 in the DCI Banks series.
I remember when you posted that “London Under” review. I had just moved to St. Louis eleven days earlier and was hoping to meet you soon. Nice memory. Thanks. Sorry you are having a problem with the pump.
Unglamorous home repair, bummer!
Ugh drains! I know from my days as a Realtor, they are nasty beasts containing all manner of obstructions which jam up the works. Good luck with your repairs and as I have no BriFri post planned-still struggling with editing my book-I’ll use your absence as an excuse to take the week off.
gah – hope things sort quickly – nothing is worse than house stuff….
Oh, ugh, I hope things are fixed soon.
I adore Neverwhere but was less in love with London Under, because I already had a favorite “Under London” kind of book…here’s my review though. https://howlingfrog.blogspot.com/2013/07/london-under.html
