M is for Mary Poppins Returns #AtoZChallenge
I’m doing the A to Z Challenge in April, using the theme of the UK & Ireland. Mary Poppins returns on Christmas Day. Are you excited?
I haven’t been this excited about movie release since The Imitation Game which opened on Christmas Day in 2014. Our usual celebrations were on other days that year, so we went to see it. It’s very fun to be in a theater on Christmas Day, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to pull that off this year, not even for Lin-Manuel Miranda.
As usual, I got all of my early sneak peeks at Mary Poppins Returns from Sim at Chapter 1 – Take 1.
- Cast announcements, including Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda
- First publicity still
- First poster — check it out, with 21st century magic, movie posters move
- First trailer
This video analyzes the trailer to find connections back to the original Mary Poppins with Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke:
Are you looking forward to Mary Poppins Returns?
Mary Poppins is always a favorite!

I don’t know – some classics are best left untouched, but I will wait until it is released before making up my mind. I hope it doesn’t trample on fond memories of the original film.

I really can’t wait for this! Nothing can beat the original, so I’m glad this is a continuation of the film and not a remake. So far, I think it looks good.
