Welcome to Readers’ Workouts, the weekly event where book lovers share workout stories, goals, successes, and challenges.
Those of us in the US are recovering from a celebratory night of fireworks and American beer, because nothing says “independence” like blowing things up and drinking domestic alcohol. I mostly ignored all that to care for my husband as he recovers from his appendectomy last week. He’s doing quite well, all due to my excellent nursing, I’m sure.
My new daily exercise streak officially started on July 1, so I’m now four days in and already with a nice mix of walking, dancing, stretching, and strength-training.
How is your exercise going? If you live in the US, how was your Independence Day? If you live in Canada, how was your Canada Day? Did I miss any other international holidays in the last week?
We had our 4th of July cookout on the 3rd. I skipped out on the beer, but we did blow things up. Glad your husband’s doing well.
My daughter, 24, started a new exercise program today and I wanted to be supportive. So after my 5-mile walk this morning, we jumped into a 30-minute Beach Body workout. I’m a runner, so I figure I have pretty strong quads, but my quads are still shaking when I go up and down steps. My daughter, who hasn’t worked out hard since college swimming, was in tears a couple times. It’ll get better, and it’s good to workout together.
