Readers’ Workouts — March 25
Welcome to Readers’ Workouts, the weekly event where book lovers share workout stories, goals, successes, and challenges.
I’m ahead of schedule to meet my goal of 1500 minutes in March. But I’m not saying that too loudly because I want to keep up the habits that got me there! The weather was, briefly, warm enough for outdoor work so I’m pleased to report that went well. My major goal for winter exercise is to prevent injury the first time I work outside in the spring. It worked!

Despite my best intentions I think I may miss posting this week, just a bit pre-occupied with a looming deadline. I have managed to increase my walking though which is something. Thanks for this meme it keeps reminding me to add exercise to the day.
More walking is a great result! I hope you survive your deadline and find a better space on the other side.
As you know, this weekend has been a little crazy so I did end up taking Sunday off and I did an exercise I could enjoy on Monday, rather than force myself to do the one that I haven’t found especially thrilling. But today I plan to get back to my commitment of using the kit for four weeks. Only two more weeks and then I will move on to something else.
I only did my karate lesson last night, still getting over a nasty cold, but it was the best night’s sleep in a couple of weeks. I’ve had a different instructor while mine is off for a shoulder injury & I’m really liking having Ben teach me. Is it disloyal to think about staying with him?
That’s always tricky, changing teachers. But you can say something like “I’m learning some new things from Ben and I want to stick with him for a while longer.” That makes it not sound permanent even if it turns out that it is. And every teacher knows that we learn different things from different teachers, so there’s no arguing with the point.
I went to the gym twice this week – ran a total of 6.4 miles. I used a couple of the machines, but need to get a plan together.
That’s very good for not having a plan, yet!
I can’t wait for warmer weather so I can walk outside!
Ah, it’s been a while since I’ve checked in, but I have been both reading AND working out, I’m happy to say! I’ve continued running and have gotten up to 3.5 miles at a time without stopping, which I’m very happy about. Considering training for a 10k because things are going so well! Maybe this summer/fall. I’ve also be interspersing my runs with 30 Day Shred…just started Level 3 this week. Forgot how much I hate Level 3. Sigh. But it does seem to be working…only 6 pounds from pre-pregnancy weight!
Yay, Kelly! That’s great progress. You are well on your way to a 10K!
Congrats on your continuing fitness journey Joy! You’re a great inspiration and motivator.
I was hesitant to link up my post because it’s mostly health related (and I haven’t written one of these posts in MONTHS). But, I’m going steady in my quest to be a tad more active. I wedged an extra hour of walking to and from bus stops! It’s been great and motivating to get that walking action in the morning.
