New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge — Wednesday Link-up, January 22
Welcome to the Wednesday link-up for the New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge. Do you have a review or progress report on your blog? If so, add it to the link list below. If not, report your progress in the comments.
The New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge runs through January and you can read just one book — so join us for the final week!
Our last Twitter Chat is tonight. We will talk about goals and books at 9PM Eastern / 8 Central / 7 Mountain / 6 Pacific / 5 Alaskan / 4 Hawaiian. The hashtag is #WSchat. Next week, #WSchat is moving to another topic.
As for my progress…
Be a Better Reader. I finished Reading Like a Writer by Francine Prose and wrote my review last week — I’ll include the link below.
Be Happier. I’m three-quarters of the way through The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. See my earlier post for answers to discussion questions from chapters 7, 8, and 9.
Be a Better Writer. I’m half-way through The Memoir Project by Marion Roach Smith. It’s nice to have a short one in the mix!
Be More Creative. The War of Art by Steven Pressfield is waiting for me (again) at the library. If the weather cooperates, I’ll pick it up today. The Memoir Project has mentioned The War of Art twice, so now I feel like it’s destiny that this should be my last book to read for the New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge.
I’ve finished three of the books on my list, but this is the first review I’ve written.
(1) Evolving in Monkey Town: How a Girl Who Knew All the Answers Learned to Ask the Questions ~ by Rachel Held Evans, 2010, memoir, rated 9/10 (read)
(2) Whistling in the Dark: A Doubter’s Dictionary ~ by Frederick Buechner, 1993, religion, rated 8/10 (read)
(3) Knocking on Heaven’s Door: The Path to a Better Way of Death ~ by Katy Butler, 2013, memoir, rated 9/10 (read and reviewed)
I posted an update on my blog today that shows what I’ve read so far and how many more book I think I can read before the end of January. Here’s the link:
