Sunday Salon — January 12
Good morning! And, Happy New Year!
Time: // 8:12 am
The scene: // The snow is nearly melted and today’s high temperature is predicted to be near 60. Astounding, when just a week ago we were getting ten inches and the next day the high temperature was 0.
Listening to: // The hum of the humidifier. I have a feeling it won’t run all day today, for a change.

The Happiness Project is the Read Along book for The New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge of 2014
Reading: // The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin, the Read Along book for The New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge.
Our discussion posts last week of Chapters 1, 2, and 3, gave me ideas for de-cluttering, improving daily interactions with my husband, and enjoying my work. I sent the discussion questions for Chapters 4, 5, and 6, yesterday. Let me know if you’d like them! We’ll have our link-up of discussion posts on Wednesday.
Blogging about: // Books to read in advance of a hoped-for trip to England in the fall – I would love your input. The list is too long, so I want to know what you’ve read and liked. The list might be too short if I’ve missed some great book that I really must read before I go.
Participating in: // The New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge.
Looking forward to: // The next Twitter chat for The New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge – Wednesday night 9PM Eastern / 8 Central / 7 Mountain / 6 Pacific / 5 Alaskan / 4 Hawaiian. The hashtag is #WSchat. The first two Twitter chats in January were energetic, real-time discussions about books, goals, projects, and resolutions that offered practical advice and great titles to add to my TBR list. Join us for the next chat on Wednesday!
What are you up to this fine Sunday?
Downton Abbey?
I finished a really hefty book this week, and a couple of shorter ones. But I felt so happy to put down the fat book (768 pp.); I enjoyed it, but those big books are heavy! Not just meaty….
Today I plan to watch a little Netflix…and read, too. Here’s MY WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES
I admire you taking on self-help. Several years ago, I read a lot of lay neuroscience — brain books that I muddled through and I really enjoyed expanding my reading into fields where I normally wouldn’t go — but I’m back to novels, mysteries and occasional history now — comfort zone
I just saw your list. It’s huge! Sadly, I have no suggestions to give.
Today, I’m researching for homeschooling assignments and maybe diving into a book. Happy Sunday!
I know some others who are reading The Happiness Project, not necessarily for your readalong. Maybe some day…my wife has the journal but hasn’t read the book yet. May be a project for us…next year.
