Sunday Salon — December 22
Time: // 8:34 am
The scene: // I just looked up and it’s snowing! Apparently, I should have paid attention to the weather forecast because I thought we were done with all of that. Rick says it’s not going to stick after our warm day on Friday (70 degrees!) and rain all day yesterday. The ground is too warm and wet.
Listening to: // nothing, at the moment.
Reading: // Mistress of Rome by Kate Quinn, a novel set in classical Rome with gladiators, emperors, and power struggles. There are many point-of-view characters so we get a broad picture of what it would be like to live in Rome at that time. I can’t remember where I heard about this book, the first in a series, but I’m really enjoying it.
On my phone, I’m reading a lovely Christmas anthology / magazine: Fiction River: Christmas Ghosts. It’s been a great way to get into the spirit of the season at odd moments, which I seem to have more of than usual in December.
Blogging about: //
- The transcript of our first Twitter chat of the New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge. We had fun on Wednesday night! Join us again on New Year’s Day.
- How much Pumpkin Bread Pudding reminds me of my mother’s Christmas baking.
Participating in: // The New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge. The sign-up post is up and running — oops! It has been a few days since I checked it and there are posts I haven’t seen yet.
Looking forward to: // Writing my sign-up post for the New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge. I’ll get that done this week. Obviously, there’s still plenty of time for you to sign up, as well! What books would support your goals in the New Year?
What are you up to this fine Sunday?
