Sunday Salon — November 17
Time: // 8:32 am
The scene: // A changing scene with a mix of clouds and sun. We have a predicted high temperature of over 70°F. Weird. The weather radio just went off — we’re under a tornado watch until 4pm. This is not tornado season. But that’s what can happen when the skies are unsettled and it’s 70°F in November.
Listening to: // My Sunday playlist, currently “Moonshadow” by Cat Stevens.
Reading: // I was going to send Provence, 1970 by Luke Barr back to the library and pick up something by M.F.K. Fischer first, since I’ve somehow never managed to read her. But, I decided to look through Provence, 1970 first to see if I wanted to read it at all….and, I couldn’t put it down. So, that’s what I’m reading. Does it feel like, sometimes, that books pick you instead of the other way around?
Watching: // I’ve been enjoying the television series Once Upon a Time streamed from Netflix. I watch it while I exercise and while I work on a big filing project. This fun adventurous romp features fairy tale characters living in a town in Maine.
Blogging about: //
- The new photo exhibit at the St. Louis Art Museum and the class we took there.
- A letter my grandpa wrote while he was training for World War I.
Participating in: // I got busy with Nonfiction November this week. Besides my theme post where I claimed expertise in diet books, I wrote two nonfiction book reviews:
- What the Plus! Google+ for the Rest of Us by Guy Kawasaki
- Brave Genius by Sean B. Carroll, which had a lovely liberation of Paris quote for Veterans Day
I had a great time hopping the linked posts in the Week 2 Review of Nonfiction November that Kim of Sophisticated Dorkiness wrote on Friday. The discussion theme for this week is Book Pairing: Match a fiction book with a nonfiction book that you would recommend. That should be fun! This week’s activities for Nonfiction November will be hosted at Regular Rumination.
Looking forward to: // A walk without a coat!
What are you up to this fine Sunday?
