Sunday Salon — November 10
Time: // 7:46 am
The scene: // The sun is so low in the sky, now, that we have the shades down in the sunroom so my view is obscured, but it’s definitely sunny and cold. Today and tomorrow, we’ll be doing all our winterizing chores so we don’t end up with frozen hoses, pipes, or faucets.
Listening to: // My Sunday playlist, currently “Oh Happy Day” by Aaron Neville.
Reading: // I’m finally about finished with Brave Genius by Sean B. Carroll. I hope to review it for the Dreaming of France meme tomorrow at An Accidental Blog. I’ve started The Cartographer of No Man’s Land by P.S. Duffy, a pick for the From Left to Write book club. Watch for the list of posts inspired by the book on Thursday.
Watching: // We watched all the Thin Man movies one after another, starting on Halloween. The dialogue between Nick and Nora is surely what the description “witty repartee” was invented for. Our old boxed set also has an extra disk with documentaries and we’re going a bit slower through that.
Blogging about: // This foodie memoir in graphic novel format: Relish by Lucy Knisley.
Participating in: // Nonfiction November. Lu posted the review of Week 1 at Regular Rumination on Friday and I added several new books to my TBR list while looking at those posts. Next week’s link-up will go live on Monday at Sophisticated Dorkiness. The discussion theme for this week is Be the Expert or Ask the Expert or Become the Expert. Check out the bottom of Lu’s Week 1 review post for more details.
Looking forward to: // Writing my “Expert” post for Nonfiction November.
What are you up to this fine Sunday?
Oh… I read French Milk and adored it! I will definitely check out this new foodie memoir.
It’s a good thing you are planning to winterize… I think winter is headed our way this week with wind chills near zero?!!
I haven’t joined in on Non-Fiction November but am reading one right now (One Summer by Bill Bryson) and non-fiction seems to be appealing to me more than fiction at the moment.
Relish? I like the title and will have to look it up. Thanks always for new reads!
Relish is a book I could easily read as I love the foods of the countries she writes about. What a great way to see a country and culture.
I’m up to about 5-foot-7.
But otherwise, I’m watching Wallander with Kenneth Branagh, which I just realized is appropriate for this weekend since the ones I’m watching have Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki in the Thor movies.
Looks like a great week! Enjoy…and thanks for visiting my blog.
It’s cool here in SoCal but not cold enough yet for fall. I can’t wait. Today I’m getting everything together for this week’s homeschooling. I’m also trying to start Far From the Tree by Andrew Solomon and maybe write a rough draft for this week’s Nonfiction November.
