Dreaming of France with the Perfume Collector
I had to turn The Perfume Collector into the library last week so I included it in a group post: 5 Quick Book Reviews. But I wanted to make sure that the Dreaming of France and Books on France folks know about this book.
The Perfume Collector is mostly about two women in two different time periods. The later story takes place in Paris in 1955, about the same period that Julia Child was there — when Paris still showed visible scars of World War II. The earlier story takes place in New York, Monte Carlo, and Paris.
As the title suggests, perfume-making is an enchanting part of the tale. I wrote in my mini-review that the prose is gorgeous with a quote to prove it. This one is sure to please any reader who is dreaming of France.
Joy, This sounds spectacular. I’m putting it on my list. So glad I know librarians (even if only online). Thanks for playing along. Here’s my Dreaming of France meme
*sigh* one more to add to my TBR list!
I have so been wanting to read this book.
I really enjoyed this one
