Sunday Salon — October 6
Time: // 9:23 am
The scene: // Finally cooler — they’re predicting a high of 63 today which is about 15 degrees cooler than yesterday.
Listening to: // My Sunday playlist, currently “You’ll Never Walk Alone” by Jimmy Durante.
Currently reading: // Still reading Brave Genius: A Scientist, a Philosopher, and Their Daring Adventures from the French Resistance to the Nobel Prize by Sean B. Carroll. I got a big dose of World War II this week because I also read Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein, a companion novel to Code Name Verity, which is the top of my list of favorite fiction read in 2013 (Book Review: Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein)
Blogging about: // The Environmental Photography workshop I took yesterday at the Shaw Nature Reserve presented by Mark Katzman. I’ll find several reasons to post photos this week. This was a fantastic workshop — we learned so much and it shows in some of the photos we took.
Last week, I posted photos from the Street Photography workshop as part of a book review (Book Review: Plate to Pixel by Helene Dujardin) and for Saturday Snapshot (Saturday Snapshot — Street Photography). I’m taking an informal poll on that second one in the comments because I get to send three photos for critique into the instructor — help me choose!
Participating in: // The October Memoir and Backstory Challenge hosted by Jane Ann McLachlan. The first week’s theme was childhood:
- Pets — October Memoir Challenge
- Birthdays — October Memoir Challenge
- Costumes — October Memoir Challenge
This week’s theme is Relationships. I’m going to play around with an idea I had at the end of last year’s challenge. How did my life compare with my mother’s life at the same ages?
Looking forward to: // A quiet week to recover from the Missouri Library Association conference, that was sandwiched between two all-day photography workshops. I need some catching-up time!
What are you up to this fine Sunday?
Sounds like you’ve been very busy…but with lots of fun events. Enjoy the upcoming week.
Here’s MY WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES
Good morning, Joy! Brave Genius sounds interesting. I’m going to check it out. Today I’m going to do some homeschooling planning and maybe read a book. Enjoy your day.
The photography workshops sound terrific – and the memoir challenge looks interesting. Perhaps next year I will participate, if it is offered again.
Have a wonderful writing, working and photography week
I just wanted to let you know that I was enjoying your playlist earlier this morning. I might have mentioned it on Twitter, but very nice.
Thanks! It puts me in a nice mood for Sunday morning.
It sounds like we have similar weather. It’s cooler today here too.
Hope you have a great week!
