Readers’ Workouts — October 30
Welcome to Readers’ Workouts, the weekly event where book lovers share athletic pursuits.
I hope those of you on the Eastern Seaboard are coping well with this storm — stay safe!
Who is ending the month strong? What strategies are you implementing as we go into the two big holiday months? (I’m asking because I need ideas for my plan!)
I’ve been in Northwest Arkansas for 10 days. I’ve been walking, hiking, and stretching in the jacuzzi that I had access to for the last half of the trip. I only need 70 minutes to meet my goal of 1600 minutes this month. I’m traveling today, though, so I may have to get them all in tomorrow. But a yoga workout would feel really good when I get home tonight, so I might try that.
How was your exercise last week?
If you answer on your blog, feel free to grab the logo for your post. I used the brighter version this week. If you prefer the lighter one, see last week’s post. In the link list below, put the link to your exercise update post. Be sure to visit the other participants’ posts to cheer everyone.
If you prefer not to use your blog, or don’t have one, you can still play along — just report in the comments.
I updated my race report to link back to this post!
70 minutes isn’t bad! Especially since you’ve been saying you were behind at the beginning of the month. You can do it!
I don’t really have a big plan for the holidays. Mostly I want to keep taking long walks every day, and do regular strength training, and try to run a couple times a week. Maybe by Christmas I’ll be able to do a full pullup on my own.
I’ve been starting to think about what I want to do after my current challenge is over. I haven’t fully decided yet. I’m going to post when I have a plan.
Nice work this month, it sounds like you caught up more than expected! I’ve had an odd workout week…my husband’s work schedule has changed, which means I’ve had to move my workouts from 5pm (when he gets home from work) to 5am (so I can go, come back, and shower before my son wakes up). It’s been challenging, to say the least, but I managed to do it 3 times this week. I’m hoping I can keep it up and increase the frequency, but I really need to start going to bed earlier!
Great job! I started back riding my bike but I’m finding it a chore than enjoyment. In one of my classes, we were doing some meditation so I think I’ll try yoga now at the local Y.
I’ve had a crap month… not so much for running although I could have done a bit better (how did I manage 100 miles in August?) but ah oh well. Next month will be a better month.
I hate that it’s got dark so early. I used to go out late afternoon/early evening but now I really need to get up earlier and go out. I just find it so hard to want to a) get up earlier and b) do anything then stare at my breakfast in a sleepy stupor. Although it is good in the kind of way that you have the rest of the day to not have to think about your run.
Hey everyone.
Looks like you’re doing great catching up and making your monthly goal! Good for you!
I recorded 348.5 minutes of exercise last week. Not too bad, but I came up the tiniest bit short for my monthly goal.. by only 1.58 miles. Ridiculous… I could do that in my sleep practically. But since the hurricane hit hard in my area, we couldn’t even leave the house on Monday and most of Tuesday, so that was that. Still no power in most places (homes, stores, gyms, schools, etc.).. so my workouts will likely suffer the beginning of Nov.
As for the holiday season, I just keep doing what I always do–workout 6 days a week and try to manage portion control and try really really hard to resist the temptation of holiday desserts. Good luck to us all! LOL!
Congratulations on a great month! Sadly, I got stuck with a bunch of stressful deadlines this week, and if I don’t do the Shred tonight (and it doesn’t feel likely), it will be day 3 without working out. And I’m feeling it! Hopefully I will get back on track by the weekend.
