Readers’ Workouts — September 18
Welcome to Readers’ Workouts, our weekly gathering of bookish folks doing active things.
Do you have any exercise books to recommend? I wrote about my favorite exercise book last week but would love to hear about more: Undersung Book for BBAW Thursday
I had a minor glitch in my back on Friday — something pulled when I was dusting flour off my shirt! Don’t you hate it when it’s something so little that causes a problem? I took three days off, but then decided that I was more in danger of injury from lack of exercise than from moving, so I’m gently getting back into it.
Fortunately, I was ahead on my minutes before my rest, so I’m still right on track for 1400 minutes of exercise in September. I’m a little behind schedule for getting in 15 Wii or DVD workouts, but I can make it up.
How was your exercise last week?
If you answer on your blog, feel free to grab the logo for your post. I used the lighter version this week. If you prefer the brighter one, see last week’s post: Readers’ Workouts September 4. In the link list below, put the link to your exercise update post. Be sure to visit the other participants’ posts to see how everyone else is doing.
If you prefer not to use your blog, or don’t have one, you can still play along — just report in the comments.
I hate the stupid injuries like waking up with your neck torqued.
Still getting over the respiratory thing last week so I managed exactly one workout that consisted of 15 minutes on the elliptical, 5 at the barre, and 5 of core.
Much healthier this week, so I already have one 45 minute workout down, and aiming for three more of 45-60 minutes this week.
I’m glad you’ve also found your way back to exercise. I slept better last night — a bonus of finally getting a workout done.
I hate it when I pull a neck muscle or something while sleeping. Really? I can’t even sleep without an injury??
I ran a 10k on 9/10 and took last week off from exercise…just started running again yesterday with a slow 2.2 miles. I have to get some more outdoor running in before the weather goes downhill around here in a month or two!
I need to take advantage of some of this fall weather, too. It was too hot much of the summer for outdoor exercise and it will be too cold soon.
I agree with Kelly–I get annoyed when I wake up with a “sleep” injury. Ever get a cramp in your calf muscle in the middle of the night? It’s excruciating! Then the muscle aches for a few days afterward. Ugh!
I had a light week last week as I recovered from the 107 mile Gran Fondo the previous Sunday, so only 254 minutes last week for me. Happily, I wasn’t sore from the ride, but my legs felt very tired and “heavy” for several days. I think I was sighing every time I got to the top of a staircase. lol!
Hope everyone has a good week!
My mother called that night-time leg cramp a charley-horse. Always made me laugh but they aren’t funny when you’ve got one.
I’m sorry to hear that you hurt yourself. I hope you feel better soon. Did you figure out the Zumba game?
I took your suggestion to use single song mode and now I’m having fun! Thanks!
Oh that sucks. Hope the pull doesn’t last long. I have very weak ankles, the result of millions of years figure skating. Sometimes I just “fall” of one (step badly) and it aches for days. The Dr. told me to take a pain med and keep using it to strengthen it back up. Seems to work.
Thanks for dropping by Clemson Road, Joy. Sorry you injured yourself! Injuries definitely get in the way of the best-laid-plans. I had a doc prescribe me a bone healing machine once. Yep.
Oh haha! I see my link includes {Pistachio Ice Cream} on it! That’s from the last time I linked up to a Mr.Linky.. happened to be for Weekend Cooking. That’s so funny. Wish we were having some right now, don’t you?
Fixed that for you — with my magical Mr. Linky powers.
Alrighty I left my comment in the wrong box. Exercise-wise, 60km cycle in the week, give or take.
