It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
Read
I did not finish killing rage by bell hooks but had a good time discussing it with my book group anyway. I always tell people that our book club is very forgiving about people showing up who haven’t read the book, but I usually try not to be that person! It was the wrong book for a week that included the death of a cousin and continued hospice care for a high school classmate.
I finished The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg. More popular science than self help, but helpful none the less. I’ll try to write more about it next week when I catch up on some of my review backlog.
Reading
My reading of Written in the Ashes by K. Hollan VanZandt has slowed to a crawl. Nothing wrong with the book, but I need something lighter to make e-books work for me, apparently. I’m on a blog tour, so I need to get it read. I’ll make that a goal for this week.
I went for a lighter book for my evening reading after our book club: Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts. It’s a bit rough and tumble, but I’m learning a lot about fighting forest fires, giving me a behind-the-scenes understanding of the news — I love it when novels do that for me.
My lunch time reading this week is American Grown by Michelle Obama. What a beautiful book — stunning photos and intriguing sidebars.
Will Read
What’s next? I’m not sure — I’m just getting started on the above books, so I’ll have a few days to figure it out.
What are you reading?

My favorite book this week was Ottoline at Sea by Chris Riddell. Please come see what I’m reading now.
American Grown looks like a book to peruse with lunch….thanks for sharing, and enjoy!
Here’s MY MONDAY MEMES POST
I’m so sorry about your cousin and high school classmate. I’m glad you’re liking the pictures in American Grown. This week I’m reading It by Stephen King and maybe a few more books. Take care of yourself.
I’m sorry to hear about your cousin and I’ll pray for peace and comfort for your high school classmate.
American Grown sounds yummy
Happy reading this week…I’m following you on Twitter
Joy, this sounds like a tough week. Take care.
Our local library does not have a copy of American Grown, which should tip you off to how the majority in our county will be voting in November. Fifty miles away at the Bozeman library, yes, it is on the shelf.
That’s pretty funny. It really is a book about a garden and about food and children and being a mom. Not particularly political.
American Grown looks and sounds good! Have a good week Joy, hope this week is a good one for you.
Your book club always reads the most interesting books
Glad to see as well that you read The Power of Habit, I look forward to your review.
