It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
Read
I did not finish killing rage by bell hooks but had a good time discussing it with my book group anyway. I always tell people that our book club is very forgiving about people showing up who haven’t read the book, but I usually try not to be that person! It was the wrong book for a week that included the death of a cousin and continued hospice care for a high school classmate.
I finished The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg. More popular science than self help, but helpful none the less. I’ll try to write more about it next week when I catch up on some of my review backlog.
Reading
My reading of Written in the Ashes by K. Hollan VanZandt has slowed to a crawl. Nothing wrong with the book, but I need something lighter to make e-books work for me, apparently. I’m on a blog tour, so I need to get it read. I’ll make that a goal for this week.
I went for a lighter book for my evening reading after our book club: Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts. It’s a bit rough and tumble, but I’m learning a lot about fighting forest fires, giving me a behind-the-scenes understanding of the news — I love it when novels do that for me.
My lunch time reading this week is American Grown by Michelle Obama. What a beautiful book — stunning photos and intriguing sidebars.
Will Read
What’s next? I’m not sure — I’m just getting started on the above books, so I’ll have a few days to figure it out.
