Pin It and Do It and Camp NaNoWriMo
I failed in round 1 of the Pin It and Do It Challenge issued by Trish at Love, Laughter, and a Touch of Insanity. It was in May when we were madly rushing around to get ready for our Ireland trip. I am proud to say that I did most of the things that I pinned to my Ireland Trip Board in the first two weeks of June!
I’m spending more time on Pinterest right now, dreaming of a trip to London next year. I might as well spend some of that time actually doing some of the things I’ve pinned.
Anything on my Summer Recipes board will be perfect for this challenge. I’m also eyeing this pin for a fun way to keep track of a goal: Post-It Note Tracker. I could use it for workouts or for Camp NaNoWriMo.
I’m going to challenge myself to doing at least 4 pins, the Pinterested level for the Pin It and Do It Challenge. See Trish’s sign up post to join us: Pin It and Do It: A Pinteresting Challenge Round 2.
Speaking of Camp NaNoWriMo, I’ll be challenging myself to write 50,000 words in August with others at Camp NaNoWriMo. This is a lower key version of National Novel Writing Month that happens in the summer instead of November.
4 pins and 50,000 words. It’s going to be an adventurous August!
Your August promises to be very lively and busy. I hope you will keep up with all. Last summer i, too, signed on for Camp NaNo, but only in hope of finishing my original NaNo story. Actually, summer proves not a very fruitful season for me. Obviously, I see summer as vacation time (after I finished school and university, I started teaching, so the schedule remained the same, and even though I’m no longer doing that… well, you can’t just wipe off so many years of habit :-D)
Wishing you strength and persistence to pull August through, inspiration to plot a wonderful plot and … well, whatever nice comes your way.
Best, M.
Wow! Good luck with the writing. Do you have an idea/concept/plot already stewing? Genre? You don’t have to share, but I’m sure having this makes the project start a little easier. If I were to write something… it would be in bullet points! HA
I was just looking at your Flikr photos from Ireland – amazing experience. We never saw sun during our trip so I don’t have photos like you do. That’s ok, still a wonderful vacation.
Hope you are having a great weekend!
Thanks, Mari! I’m working on a memoir — which makes me a NaNo Rebel, although I find it’s scary how much writing memoir is similar to writing fiction!
We were very lucky with rain in Ireland. On the tour part, we only had one day where the fun was really dampened by rain. During our extra days in Dublin, it was easy enough to plan indoor activities for rainy times and take walks when we could.
Best to you as you work on these two challenges — you can do it!
I use Pinterest in bits and pieces … pinning and re-pinning like mad for a few days, then staying away for a few weeks. I could spend hours making pinboards for wishlists
We don’t use the f word on my blog (f=fail).
It’s all in fun–if you don’t manage to complete any, that’s OK too. Glad you’re joining again and the post-it countdown is a great idea! Definitely helps make things visual.
Thanks for joining–the starting line linky will go up on Wednesday but feel free to start early!
Hi Joy. Good luck with NaNoWriMo! And you’re right about memoir or biography being a lot like fiction. The best non-fiction reads like a great novel. I don’t know if you’ve read Trevor Corson’s “Secret life of Lobsters” or “the Story of Sushi,” but I think his work is the best modern example of unputdownable narrative non-fiction. All that and it’s about food to boot!
I haven’t read those — I’ll add them to the list! Thanks!
Your August is looking lovely! I had no idea there was a Camp NaNoWriMo going on. I would participate but I would rather read than write.
Good luck with everything!
“Stick a pin in it and you’re done”, that’s what came to mind as I read your post Joy. I have been mulling over pinterest. I always work in bits of this and that from here and there. I am already overly invested in projects though…can I really take something else on? Even joining another internet thingy??? And Camp Nanowrimo. I have today to mull that over too. Thanks for the ideas! Now I really need to update that long neglected blog of mine… later later later, she says quietly….
