Readers’ Workouts April 24
Welcome to this week’s Readers’ Workouts where bookish people engage in athletic pursuits! Join us each week to report on the previous week’s exercise and to set goals for the coming week. If you’re recording your exercise on a blog, leave a link in the Mister Linky below. Or, you can participate in the comments.
Sheila challenged the Readers’ Workout participants in her post last week: Body Works and Biking. Her challenge was to try something new. I took her up on that, pledging to walk to the train station and back. And I did it on Thursday! Fun walk. I had no idea how long it would take, but I knew that my neighbor did it so it wasn’t an impossible distance. I chose a perfect weather day and it took me about 95 minutes. I’m looking forward to doing it again!
If I work out about an hour a day the rest of the month, I’ll meet my goal of exercising 1400 minutes in April. It’s been a struggle getting motivated recently, so I’m glad I’m near the end of the month. I really want to meet my goal and I know I can — that will help motivate my exercise each day.
My other goal this month was 15 full body workouts using my DVDs and I’m on track for that one — so yay! I seem to be more motivated by that because I really don’t want to have to do them two days in a row or more, so I’m making it a high priority to stay on top of it as much as possible.
My video workouts improved this week with new headphones. As you can see from the photo, they are much smaller and lighter than the old ones. I always felt a little ridiculous doing things like yoga in those giant headphones, but they were what I had. The best part, though, are that the new headphones are Bluetooth. I’m no longer tethered to my computer by a cable. I can’t wait to do my hula DVD without having to worry about the cord wrapping around me during the turns.
How is your exercise going this week?

Awesome job on walking to the train station. I love long walks. My husband and I did one the Sunday before last and it was really enjoyable!
PS–I can’t see the links in the Linky Widget because your picture is covering it. I’d like to post comments on the other posts. Can you resize your picture?
Did that help? It looked fine on my screen so it’s hard to tell. I made the photo smaller and put a rule line under it, which usually forces a hard break and makes things work more consistently.
It didn’t go great at all last week and I am pretty annoyed with myself. I admire you. I hate working out with videos, but I kind of like the WII Fitboard. Maybe I should get it out again….
Two “challenges” in one month? And both of them intense. How do you do it?
I’ve been challenging myself with exercise minutes for several years now — starting at about 300 minutes and gradually building up. I got up to 1800 minutes at one point but that was too much for all kinds of reasons.
With 1400 minutes, the April Platform Challenge, and writing goals, I am going a bit nuts this week trying to get it all in. My husband figured out tonight that this is not a good time to suggest any items for my to do list! The schedule is jam-packed already!
