Two of my communities are having big days on Saturday.

Kirkwood, Missouri has two events. Hands on Kirkwood is a volunteer blitz on Saturday morning. In the afternoon, the Kirkwood Human Rights Commission is hosting a symposium with booths, speakers, and a panel discussion. There’s a pdf flyer with all the details.

The book blogging community also has a huge event on Saturday: Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-a-Thon. I signed up to be a cheerleader for the first time, one hour late in the day since I didn’t know how I was going to coordinate my real life events with my virtual ones. I also signed up to read.

I decided that I really couldn’t handle all three of these, especially since I could really use a day of reading. So, I will split the difference on the Kirkwood events. I sent a check to Hands on Kirkwood and will attend the Symposium. The rest of the day, I will be reading and cheering readers in the Read-a-Thon.
