A Busy Saturday
Two of my communities are having big days on Saturday.
Kirkwood, Missouri has two events. Hands on Kirkwood is a volunteer blitz on Saturday morning. In the afternoon, the Kirkwood Human Rights Commission is hosting a symposium with booths, speakers, and a panel discussion. There’s a pdf flyer with all the details.
The book blogging community also has a huge event on Saturday: Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-a-Thon. I signed up to be a cheerleader for the first time, one hour late in the day since I didn’t know how I was going to coordinate my real life events with my virtual ones. I also signed up to read.
I decided that I really couldn’t handle all three of these, especially since I could really use a day of reading. So, I will split the difference on the Kirkwood events. I sent a check to Hands on Kirkwood and will attend the Symposium. The rest of the day, I will be reading and cheering readers in the Read-a-Thon. Hope to see you in real life or virtually on Saturday!
Have fun with the readathon!
I really wanted to do the read-a-thon but my daughter’s home from college this weekend so I’ll be cheering you all on in spirit.
Sounds very busy, Joy. It’s good not to overextend yourself and make choices. Have fun at the read-a-thon, I’ll “be there” too, reading away.
