cpd23 Thing 6 — Online Networks
Still playing catch up in the Continuing Professional Development 23 Things program. Next up, Thing 6: Online networks. This post asks us to think about and experiment with social online networks like LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter.
I’ve been on all three for years, since I was hanging out, virtually, with a group of librarians who made it a mission to be among the first to try each new thing. Here I am on each:
- Joy Weese Moll | LinkedIn
- Joy Weese Moll on Facebook
- @joyweesemoll on Twitter
I’ve never found much to do with LinkedIn except say “yes” to invitations from people I know. I don’t think Groups existed the last time I paid any attention to LinkedIn, so now I’m in a group with other cpd23 participants!
Facebook has turned into mostly interaction with local NaNoWriMo people and with friends from high school. But that last group unexpectedly generated a helpful professional contact (hi, Kathy!), proving that networking is never wasted.
Twitter continues to amaze me in its ability to morph into whatever I need at the moment. An exaltation of technology-inclined librarians? Check! A bevy of book bloggers? Check! A gaggle of writers? Check!
