Booking Through Thursday: Cover
Today’s Booking Through Thursday question is:
CAN you judge a book by its cover?
I’ve been paying more attention to covers because I’ve been reading book blogs, since the posts often feature the cover. But rather than helping me judge the book, it’s made me more appreciative of the cover itself, book covers as art work. As a romance reader, I can recognize that genre from the cover, but I don’t find a correlation between cover art and how much I enjoy the content of the book (although I’ve certainly tried the experiment more than once!).
What do you think? Can you judge a book by its cover? Check today’s Booking Through Thursday post for other opinions.
Good point. Just because a book had a good cover doesn’t mean I am going to enjoy it more. Which is why I don’t pay much attention to cover when choosing books I’m more about the summary.

I’m afraid I am one of those people who does judge a book by its cover. I also read romance as well as mysteries, thrillers, and “women’s fiction.” Most of the time the covers of those genres will tell me in advance whether I’ll like it or not. I love it when I am proven wrong on a cover – in a good way. More important to me is the cover’s synopsis of the book (sometimes on the back cover). When that is wrong then I get mad.
I love a good book cover. I’ve found a good many books that way and while I try not to let a bad cover turn me away I really have to work to get past it.
