Lady Macbeth’s Daughter by Lisa Klein was fun to read after recently reading Macbeth and seeing the play. It’s a good story even if you aren’t familiar with the play, but more rewarding if you are. This is a Young Adult title, so a good book for high school students who dutifully read the play, especially the girls.
The Iron Duke by Meljean Brook is the first steampunk book I’ve read that wasn’t a Young Adult title. I enjoyed that it’s a real adult romance. I think I read it too slowly, though. As I’m reaching the end, I’m confused by some things. I suspect, that’s because I’ve forgotten details of what went on earlier in the book.
I am somehow looking through two healthy lifestyle books at once at the moment. I’ll post a recipe from Fast, Fresh, and Green by Susie Middleton on Saturday. The Eating Well Diet by Jean Harvey-Berino looks like it’s going to be a favorite.
Tribes by Seth Godin looks worth a skim. Many of the examples are about being a leader in a corporate culture while I’m looking for ways to lead outside of that box. Still, it has some tips and tons of encouragement.
Next up, I’m going to finish Between Barack and a Hard Place by Tim Wise for the discussion group I’m attending at the Kirkwood United Church of Christ on alternate Sundays. That won’t take too long, so I think I’ll go for much lighter fare after: A Secret Affair by Mary Balogh.
When I’ve finished Tribes, I may look through a book called Influencer: The Power to Change Anything by Kerry Patterson et. al.
