Last week, I finished A Walk in the Woods and wrote about it here: Book Review: A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson. I also finished The Black Girl Next Door by Jennifer Baszile and enjoyed it. I’ll write about that book later in the week after we discuss it at book club on Thursday night at Kirkwood Public Library. Join us, if you live nearby — we always welcome new members!
I am still reading two books that I mentioned in last week’s post.
I made admirable progress in the ebook, Torchwood: Another Life, largely due to two car service appointments.
I am still plugging along in The Way to Eat by David L. Katz and Maura Gonzalez. I complained last week that they were saying a little too often to give into cravings quickly rather than eat other things in an attempt to ward them off. This turned into an obsession for me and I had my worst week of eating since I began my weight loss journey in August of 2009. Sigh. To be fair, it wasn’t all the book’s fault and also had to do with some stressful projects and the weird transition time of being almost, but not quite, to my goal weight. I’m still reading the book because although it contributed to getting me into trouble, it has also helped me find a path back out. I’m happily following my food plan again and have even committed to the reductions that are apparently necessary for me to continue losing weight.
I have started reading Christine Feehan’s Ruthless Game, the latest in the GhostWalker series. I’m really enjoying both of the lead characters and the ways they are handling their problems.
Next up will probably be Little Bee by Chris Cleave. Kirkwood Public Library is hosting a discussion of this in a couple of weeks and I may go, especially if I finish the book!
