Welcome to British Isles Friday! British Isles Friday is a weekly event for sharing all things British — reviews, photos, opinions, trip reports, guides, links, resources, personal stories, interviews, and research posts. Join us each Friday to link your British-themed content and to see what others have to share. The link list is at the bottom of this post. Pour a cup of tea or lift a pint and join our link party!
To get a good understanding of London, we spent much of our first full day at the Museum of London learning about the English Civil War, the Plague, and the Great Fire.
While walking in the area, we passed St. Mary-le-Bow. A person born within the sound of the bells of this church is said to be a true Cockney. This church is also one of the ones mentioned in the Oranges and Lemons song — “I do not know says the great bell of Bow.”
We could have spent another day in the Museum of London and a third walking around to see the various churches and other historical sites in this historic area.
