Readers’ Workouts — December 17
Welcome to Readers’ Workouts, the weekly event where book lovers share workout stories, goals, successes, and challenges.
It’s the middle of the month and I’ve exercised 760 minutes of the 1400 minutes that I slated for December. A little ahead of schedule is a good place to be with holiday gatherings still to come this month.
How is your exercise faring amidst holiday frivolity? Answer on your blog (feel free to grab the logo) and link to your post below or join us in the comments! Be sure to visit the other participants to see how we all did.
The New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge has started with two posts already, one for sign-ups and one announcing the Facebook page and Twitter chats (the first chat is tomorrow night). Do you expect to read any books to support your fitness goals for 2014? Do you have a book title to recommend to some one who has the resolution Get fit in ’14?
I’m using my injured finger more and more but I think I overdid it yesterday. We’ll see if I can manage a downward dog without any pain. In the meantime, in January I’ll be adding new things to my routine. I could add them now but it doesn’t make sense to try to create a new habit, formalize a new schedule, when things are so chaotic. In the meantime, I’ve not only regained everything I lost in 2013 but I actually reached a new high so I am feeling discouraged but I’m not letting that defeat me.
Satia–good for you for not letting discouragement stop your actions and plans. My best cure for discouragement is “Do Something” and, if I can’t manage that, then “Plan Something” works almost as well.
This is the week I do an extra hour of karate to get round my regularly scheduled lessons being on Christmas and New Year’s day. So, two hours down, two and a half to go…
I’m really enjoying beign at the point where I can watch the orange belts (the first belt of 8 in our system) and give them sparring tips, while still receiving tips from the been-a-black-belt-for-thirty-years guy.
That’s cool to be in the teaching and learning mode at the same time — definitely a sweet spot.
Sounds like you are off to a good start to the month! And with the holiday dinners, baking, socials… it’s good to be on track (have an extra cookie).
Hope you are having a great month Joy.
